Analysis of the supermarket sector's till rolls for the past 12 weeks showed Ocado Retail improving sales by 12.5%, well ahead of the total online market, which grew by 6.8%.

Market leader Tesco PLC (LSE:TSCO) held its 27.4% share with 5.9% growth in customer spending, the same as J Sainsbury PLC (LSE:SBRY), which has a 15.3% share as sales increased by 6.8%.

Third-placed Asda was the only chain to see till takings fall, down 0.4%, but held its 13.4% market share.
