Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) has signed a binding agreement to acquire Bengal Mining Pty Ltd, which holds options over two promising lithium projects, Caraíbas and Sidrônio, in Brazil's renowned Lithium Valley in the Minas Gerais region. This acquisition, seen as transformative by Lightning Minerals, places the company near significant lithium deposits such as Latin Resources' Colina project and Sigma Lithium’s Grota do Cirilo project. The projects show early positive indications for critical minerals with identified pegmatites and encouraging rock chip assays for lithium and other elements like tantalum, rubidium and caesium.
To support the development of these projects, Lightning Minerals has raised A$1.5 million through an oversubscribed placement at A$0.07 per share. These funds are earmarked for initial exploration and general working capital needs. In terms of ongoing projects, fieldwork at Dalmas and Hiver is progressing.
Looking forward, Lightning Minerals plans to commence fieldwork in Brazil as soon as the acquisition is finalised and approved at an upcoming EGM. The company is well-positioned to leverage its expanded global footprint in key lithium regions, including Western Australia, Quebec and now Minas Gerais, aiming to enhance its project portfolio and market positioning.
