Donald Trump's Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (NASDAQ:DJT) said its Truth Social arm is planning to launch a video streaming platform for content providers featuring news, religious and other content that has been "cancelled".
The startup said this is the first phase of its content delivery network (CDN), with the direction based on a six-month "research and development phase" it has just finished carrying out.
It will stream the video to the Truth Social app for Android, iOS and the web, it said.
"The streaming content is expected to focus on live TV including news networks, religious channels, family-friendly content including films and documentaries; and other content that has been cancelled, is at risk of cancellation, or is being suppressed on other platforms and services," the company said in a statement overnight.
Other CDN services, which include Cloudflare, Akamai, Amazon's Cloudfront, and Microsoft's Azure CDN, operate by storing digital content on global servers, enabling loading times for users.
TMTG says its CDN will operate "independent of Big Tech," but will incorporate "cutting-edge technology to optimize speed, performance, and security for video streaming while minimizing interruptions".
By operating a CDN, the company expects it will "greatly enhance and expand" Truth Social and its "free-speech mission".
Truth Social went public last month via a SPAC merger when the valuation hit $10.8 billion as the shares traded at just over $79 apiece, before plummeting over 71% since, sending the former US President tumbling back out of Bloomberg's rich list.
