Zephyr Energy starts drilling new Paradox well in Utah

Zephyr Energy PLC (AIM:ZPHR, OTCQB:ZPHRF) begun drilling operations at the State 36-2 LNW-CC-R well, part of the Paradox Basin project in Utah.

The new well aims to ‘twin’ the company's original well, targeting the same Cane Creek reservoir and the previously encountered over-pressured, gas-bearing natural fracture system.

It is drilling down to a target total depth of 10,362 feet, which will include a 270-foot horizontal section.

"We are excited about the commencement of drilling operations with a goal to deliver a safe and timely drilling operation followed by a successful well test,” chief executive Colin Harrington said in a statement.

“We look forward to keeping our stakeholders updated as drilling progresses and believe that these operations will be the catalyst to further unlock the significant potential of the Paradox project."

Drilling operations are predicted to run for around 30 days. A test crew is expected to mobilise to the site, to test any productive natural fracture system intersected by the new well.
