Titan Lithium Inc (OTC:CDSG) announced that X-ray diffraction (XRD) results for samples collected during its auger drill program at the Titan 1 and Titan 2 projects in Tanzania have confirmed widespread lithium-bearing minerals at the projects.
The company said the results confirmed lepidolite, spodumene and hectorite as the predominant lithium-bearing mineral species at the Titan projects.
47 samples were selected for XDR analysis from various depths from 17 auger holes at Titan 1 and three auger holes at Titan 2.
In an XDR analysis, dry powdered samples are bombarded with X-rays from various angles to determine the crystal structures of minerals and their relative abundance.
Titan Lithium reported that the XDR results showed that the abundance of these minerals ranged from less than 1% up to 15% of the clay horizons on the Titan projects.
The average abundance observed across various horizons at Titan 1 was 6.3% and at Titan 2 was 8.8%.
For both projects, the lithium minerals were observed in every sample and there was a general trend of increased abundance deeper from the surface.
“The XRD results from the Titan volcano-sedimentary clays are very encouraging and intriguing,” CEO Craig Alford commented.
“Mineralogical studies will continue to be part the company’s exploration efforts as it will help guide further analytical assessment for future deep drilling as well as any potential future production methodologies that we may test.”
