Aclara Resources appoints seasoned mining exec José Augusto Palma as executive vice president

Aclara Resources Inc (TSX:ARA, OTC:ARAAF) announced the appointment of experienced mining executive José Augusto Palma as executive vice president of the company, effective June 1.

The rare earths-focused development-stage company said Palma brings 17 years of experience in the mining sector, currently serving as vice president, legal & corporate Affairs at precious metals mining company Hochschild Mining.

He has been serving as an Aclara board member since June 2023 as Hochschild’s nominee but will step down as a director at the company’s upcoming annual general meeting.

Aclara said Palma will be a key member of the company’s leadership team and will play a vital role in the company's leadership, overseeing strategic initiatives, stakeholder relationships, permitting strategy, and corporate governance.

He will play a key role in the development of the company’s two key projects in Chile and Brazil, Aclara CEO Ramon Barúa added.

Barúa highlighted Palma’s significant experience in the resources sector and proven track record of delivering results in the various positions he has held.

“Mr. Palma has previously led a team of professionals responsible for the approval of eight environmental and operational permits for mining projects in various countries, including in the State of Goiás in Brazil, and capital market transactions totaling approximately $3 billion,” Barúa said.

“His appointment strengthens Aclara's senior management team in areas that are critical for the development of the Penco Module in Chile and the Carina project in Brazil."
