Deloitte reverses Covid cuts with new London office space

Deloitte made a U-turn on a strategy introduced during the pandemic by expanding its office space in London.

Having abandoned around 250,000 square feet worth of office space in London between 2021 and 2022, the Big Four accountant said facilities were now being opened once again.

“We are always monitoring how we use our office space so we can respond to the needs of our clients and people,” a spokesperson commented.

“In February we opened three floors in 66 Shoe Lane, with a fourth to follow later in the year.”

This represents an increase of 70,000 square feet, reported the Financial Times, and signals a backtrack on a move to allow staff to work from home in the early stages of the pandemic.

“[They] increase our overall London campus space by 18% to support our growing business and ways of working, ” a spokesperson said.

Deloitte’s London campus includes three sites on New Street Square as well as locations at Hill House, Stonecutter Court and Athene Place.

Rival EY launched a review of its London base in November meanwhile prior to the end of a lease.
