Nano One Materials Corp (TSX:NANO, OTC:NNOMF) ended its fourth quarter in a strong financial position as it aims to commercialize its LFP battery technology.
The company, which specializes in lithium-ion battery cathode active materials, reported a cash and cash equivalent position of $31.9 million and working capital of $30.1 million at the close of 2023.
With total assets reaching $53 million and total liabilities standing at $5.5 million, Nano One's financial health underscores its stability and growth potential.
During the quarter ended December 31, 2023, the company completed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study, revealing a remarkable reduction of 50% in greenhouse gas emissions and an 80% decrease in water usage compared to conventional processes.
Also in December, Nano One confirmed orders for approximately 1.3 tonnes of LFP samples manufactured from its pilot plant. These orders serve the objectives of commercial evaluation, collaboration, and securing offtake agreements with partners across various sectors including automotive, energy storage systems, defense, and industrial applications.
Additionally, Nano One advanced its pilot plant operations at the Candiac LFP production facility, enhancing testing capabilities at tonne-scale. The company secured a strategic investment of $17 million from Sumitomo Metal Mining, further propelling the adoption of Nano One's innovative processes.
Furthermore, Nano One received a grant of $10 million from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), bolstering its efforts in developing sustainable energy solutions.
Looking ahead, Nano One continues to expand its intellectual property portfolio, with the addition of four new patents in Asia.
The company has commenced a feasibility study for a 25,000 tonnes per annum LFP commercial plant, aimed at supporting customer offtake and future project funding endeavors.
