Rakovina Therapeutics unveils AI-driven strategy for cancer drug development

Rakovina Therapeutics Inc (TSX-V:RKV) announced a new strategy in cancer research with its strategic shift towards artificial intelligence-driven precision medicine.

The move will place the Vancouver-based drug development company at the forefront of an exciting new area of drug development research.

In a statement, Rakovina revealed it has partnered with Dr Artem Cherkasov, a renowned professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and senior scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, for exclusive access to the proprietary Deep Docking AI Platform, a groundbreaking technology for identifying DNA-damage response targets.

Powered by advanced AI algorithms, the Deep Docking platform enables Rakovina to rapidly analyze billions of molecular structures, assessing their potential as targeted cancer drugs.

The approach promises to accelerate drug discovery and development, targeting vulnerabilities common in various cancer types.

Rakovina executive chair Jeffrey Bacha called the strategic shift “a significant step forward in Rakovina’s mission.”

“The Deep Docking AI Platform will rapidly screen billions of drug candidates against validated DNA-damage response targets, predicting safety, efficacy and pharmaceutical properties,” Bacha told investors.

“We then validate their activity in our confirmatory assays and advance the most promising drug candidates through human clinical trials and pharmaceutical partnerships.”

Under the leadership of Rakovina chief scientific officer Dr Mads Daugaard, the company will leverage Dr Cherkasov's expertise and UBC's research infrastructure to advance cancer therapies.

Founded in 2021, Rakovina is dedicated to transforming cancer care by targeting DNA-damage response pathways.

The company will hold a conference call on April 3 to discuss the new strategic direction. Details of the call are available here: https://events.irlabs.ca/rkv_event.
