Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN, ETR:AMZ) and Peacock, the streaming service owned by Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA, ETR:CTP2) have secured exclusive NFL games for their as part of an updated media distribution agreement for the 2024 season.
Peacock gets exclusive rights to show a week one international game, played in Brazil, while Amazon Prime will be the only media outlet to stream one of the wild card games played later in the season.
Amazon’s deal marks only the second time that an NFL playoff game will be shown exclusively through a streaming service.
Peacock’s exclusive game will take place on September 6, in Sao Paulo, which will be the first-ever regular season NFL game to be hosted in South America.
Last season, Peacock secured the rights to stream the AFC wildcard game between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs, the latter of which ended up taking home the championship.
The match garnered 23 million viewers and became the most-streamed live event in the US ever, helping lift Comcast’s quarterly revenue estimates at the time.
Comcast said back in March 2021 that NBC and Peacock would be presenting Sunday Night Football until 2033.
Earlier this year, Super Bowl 2024 became the most-watched TV broadcast in US history since the Moon landing nearly 55 years earlier.
