New Wise CFO to usher in next phase of fintech’s story, says Jefferies

Investment bank Jefferies had shining things to say about Wise PLC (LSE:WISE)’s new chief finance officer Emmanuel Thomassin in a research note published on Tuesday.

Jefferies analysts pointed to his successful stint at Delivery Hero (ETR:DHER, OTCQX:DLVHF), where Thomassin oversaw a doubling of the German group’s valuation.

Analysts now expect Thomassin to build on Wise’s disruptive payment services.

“Next phase of Wise's story to unlock broader neobank market,” they said. “After a ‘warm-up’ period, we expect Thomassin to spearhead the introduction of new KPIs better matching Wise expanding scope from a pure cross border FX business to a ‘neobank-like fintech’.”

They added: “We especially would welcome consumer spend and total customers metrics to capture non-FX business.”

As for Wise’s general outlook, Jefferies expects total payment volumes to increase 16% year on year in the fourth quarter, with active customer growth up 28% to 7.8 million.

Jefferies sees Wise stock as a buy with a 1,123 price target against a 939p publication price.
