The FTSE 100 fell at the open on Tuesday.
In a busy day for earnings, Flutter and 888 Holdings both appeared to please the market with their updates.
Paddy Power owner Flutter hailed its first positive earnings in its US business, while 888’s news of a new strategic direction looked to overshadow a slump in profits.
Also reporting was housebuilder Bellway, which fell as reassurances that trading looked to improve over the second half of the year failed to take eyes off a 56% drop in interim profit.
Things did look better for Ocado Retail after a spat between its owners Ocado and M&S though, as it reported an increase in market share over the first quarter.
And finally, Revolution Bars plummeted after the chain confirmed the likes of a sale or restructuring were being explored after reports said job cuts were likely.
