Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) announced that the final assay results from its 2023 soil sampling program at the Kolos project in British Columbia have delineated five target mineralization zones, each kilometer-scale, within a potential cluster porphyry trend spanning seven kilometers.
The Vancouver-based mineral explorer said each of these zones boasts highly anomalous copper concentrations surpassing 200 parts per million (ppm) up to a maximum of 1,175 ppm copper. These included significant areas at the Rea Zone, measuring 1200 meters by 350 meters and at the Clapperton Zone, measuring 1,000 meters by 900 meters.
The company said these new copper discoveries had comparable geology to other porphyry despots in British Columba, such as the nearby Highland Valley copper-molybdenum porphyry deposit, located about 30 kilometers to the northwest.
The patterns of pathfinder elements – copper, arsenic, antimony, lead, and zinc – within the Lodi, Rea, Kirby and Ace Zones mirrors mirror typical geochemical signatures indicative of alkalic-suite porphyry systems such as the Copper Mountain and New Afton deposits, located 106 kilometers south and 30 kilometers to the north of the Kolos project, respectively.
The Clapperton Zone, meanwhile, has coincident copper-molybdenum with styles of alternation that indicate a potential calc-alkaline porphyry suite more comparable to the Highland Valley deposits.
Additionally, Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) said that the latest findings from the newly defined Rea and Clapperton Zones, plus previous soil results from the Lodi, Kirby, and Ace Zone, have expanded the greater than 100 ppm copper soil envelope at the project to 20 square kilometers from 15.6 square kilometers.
It expects upcoming rock grab assay results combined with a property-wide ZTEM geophysics survey will provide additional insights into the exploration upside of the project.
CEO Malcolm Dorsey described the soil sampling assay results as a major milestone both for the company and its Kolos copper-gold project.
"Our understanding of the emerging copper-gold plus molybdenum systems has expanded immensely with the delineation of five significant zones over a seven-kilometer north-south regional trend that appears to be the primary control on the distribution of mineralized intrusive centres in this area,” Dorsey said.
“These results have created considerable excitement among our team and reinforce our commitment to unlocking further value for our shareholders through focused exploration initiatives as we move forward into 2024."
