ANGLE to showcase research that underlines potential of its liquid biopsy system

ANGLE PLC (AIM:AGL, OTCQX:ANPCY), the pioneering liquid biopsy specialist, is set to showcase its latest circulating tumour cell (CTC) research at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) taking place in currently in Milan.

At EBCC, ANGLE will present two studies demonstrating the capabilities of its Parsortix system and Portrait+ CTC Staining Kit.

These technologies offer an efficient and standardised approach for capturing and analyzing a wide array of CTC phenotypes, crucial for understanding cancer progression, metastasis, and treatment resistance.

The first piece of analysis reveals that the Parsortix system can isolate mesenchymal CTCs and CTC clusters from patient blood samples.

These findings are critical as mesenchymal CTCs are often missed by other systems but play a significant role in cancer's spread and resistance to treatments.

Furthermore, the presence of CTC clusters, observed in 75% of the CTC-positive samples, underscores their high metastatic potential.

The second presentation focuses on the use of the Parsortix system for assessing HER2 status in CTCs from metastatic breast cancer patients. Traditional tissue biopsies, which guide diagnosis and treatment, can quickly become outdated due to their invasive nature and the dynamic progression of the disease.

ANGLE's study on 26 patients showed that HER2 expression in CTCs could change over time, mirroring the variability seen in tissue biopsies. This suggests that CTC-based liquid biopsies could offer a less invasive and more current method for monitoring disease and guiding treatment decisions.

ANGLE's chief scientific officer, Karen Miller, said: "Parsortix system and Portrait imaging assays for reliable and repeatable assessment of biomarkers in a range of solid tumours, including breast.

"We look forward to discussions with translational researchers and industry representatives at this conference to explore opportunities for sales, collaboration, and partnerships."
