Chrysler is set to recall more than 38,000 vehicles over concerns that driver airbags may not deploy in crashes, regulators said on Wednesday.
Some 38,164 vehicles will be recalled, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Such vehicles in question include certain 2023-2024 Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wagoneer models.
This is due to concerns that steering column control modules on such models may not be welded properly, potentially impacting the deployment of drivers’ airbags.
As per the NHTSA, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the vehicles’ steering column control modules free of charge.
Stellantis NV (NYSE:STLA, EPA:STLA), which owns Chrysler, was trading 0.4% higher at US$28.93 on Wednesday.
