Nvidia Corp’s newly announced Blackwell family of processors will raise the bar once again” in the world of artificial intelligence compute, reckon Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) analysts.
Announced at the Nvidia GTC event on Monday, Blackwell encompasses the new B100, B200, and GB200 chips.
Complexities aside, they represent a leap in performance, offering more than double the transistor count of the previous flagship H100 ship and significantly faster speeds for AI training and inference tasks.
“It is clear from the GTC keynote that despite all that has happened in the last 18 months, Nvidia believes we are still early when it comes to unlocking the potential of generative AI,” said Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS).
The bank dubbed it an “unusual” keynote in which Nvidia boss Jensen Huang took front, centre and side stage.
“In the keynote, he laid out a vision of an AI-powered future, with generative AI the building block of a new industrial revolution," the investment bank said.
“With those grand ambitions in mind, the company presented a compelling set of new hardware, software, and systems to go one step further enabling that future.”
Morgan Stanley remains bullish on Nvidia, maintaining an 'overweight' rating on its stock.
Nvidia’s leading position in the AI sector has made it one of the fastest-growing large-cap stocks in recent memory, rallying 83% year to date, 240% year on year, and nearly 2,000% over five years.
Industry leaders praise Blackwell chip
Nvidia’s new flagship Blackwell chip garnered widespread praise from leaders in the tech sector.
Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg said: “AI already powers everything from our large language models to our content recommendations, ads, and safety systems, and it's only going to get more important in the future.
"We're looking forward to using Nvidia's Blackwell to help train our open-source Llama models and build the next generation of Meta AI and consumer products.”
Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI: “Blackwell offers massive performance leaps, and will accelerate our ability to deliver leading-edge models. We’re excited to continue working with Nvidia to enhance AI compute.”
Elon Musk commented: “There is currently nothing better than Nvidia hardware for AI.”
