This randomized, crossover, placebo-controlled investigation will compare three dose formulations, each containing a 7 mg dose of semaglutide Semaglutide, when swallowed into the stomach or intestine without the aid of absorption technology, typically exhibits a low absorption rate, typically less than 1%. This low absorption is attributed, in part, to the acidic environment of the stomach, which can degrade GLP-1 drug. Lexaria's technology has proven to overcome this barrier, showing a 45% improvement in drug delivery into the bloodstream compared to traditional methods in a small pilot study. The company has announced plans for additional studies, including two more pilot studies and a significant 12-week study involving 60-80 participants, alongside a crucial animal study.
