PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (TSX:PYR, OTCQX:PYRGF), a high-tech company specializing in advanced plasma processes and sustainable solutions, has inked a new contract worth approximately C$450,000 with a US structural materials entity engaged in advanced cement development.
Funded in part by the US Department of Energy, the contract marks PyroGenesis' entrance into the cement industry, targeting a sector responsible for more than 8% of global CO2 emissions.
The client's identity remains confidential due to contractual agreements, PyroGenesis noted.
PyroGenesis will design and construct a tailored system for lab-scale cement production applications, integrating a plasma torch, refractory furnace, and necessary gas, power, and cooling components. This system aims to facilitate advanced cement development and testing while minimizing emissions typically associated with fossil fuel-based processes.
“The cement industry is one we have been targeting, as it is one of the highest-emitting industrial sectors, responsible for more than 8% of global CO2 emissions,” CEO P Peter Pascali said in a statement.
“We believe our greenhouse gas-free technologies are a perfect solution to help the cement industry decarbonize by replacing fossil-fuel burners with PyroGenesis’ electric plasma torches in various process steps, effectively moving towards green cement.”

The company's technology provides heavy industry with an economically attractive alternative to conventional processes, supporting global efforts for sustainability.
