BioHarvest Sciences Inc. (CSE:BHSC, OTC:CNVCF), the biotechnology company, has appointed two senior hires for its recently launched CDMO services business unit.
Matt Zrebiec will join the unit as vice president of business development and will look to source and close new deals for the new division.
Zrebiec joins with more than two decades of experience in the biotech and CDMO pharmaceutical sector, having previously held leadership roles at Teva, Hikma and Par Endo.
Itay Mayrose will also join the division, working as a senior artificial intelligence scientist, where he will call on his expertise in plant computational genomics, with an approach which merges computer science with genetics.
Mayrose’s research focuses on areas such as genomics, molecular biology, ecology and phylogenetics, while also pioneering the use of AI in genome editing.
"Our new CDMO Services division is such a natural complement to the core competencies…but even with these powerful existing synergies, we needed to add leaders with specific skill sets in order to accelerate growth,” CEO Ilan Sobel said.
Last month, the company signed two contracts with industrial customers to develop complex molecules via its newly launched business unit.
The company said this new business unit will allow pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, nutraceutical and nutrition industry leaders to partner with BioHarvest to utilize its botanical synthesis process technology through a typical CDMO contracting model.
