Pearson PLC (LSE:PSON) shares stayed close to a five-year high after a bullish presentation by chief finance officer Sally Johnson at Citi’s TMT conference in London.
According to the broker, the key takeaways for investors from the conference were that 2024 is set to be a cleaner year in terms of growth with all segments contributing.
Incoming chief executive Omar Abbosh brings a strong, organic focus on commerciality to education group.
By division, assessments and qualifications (A&Q) is set for more moderate growth but continued margin improvement.
Overall, the group is comfortable with the shape of the portfolio, said Johnson, with English Language Learning (ELL) and Workforce Skills (WFS) still the main engines of growth.
Shares were up slightly at 1,019p compared to their recent high of 1,035p.
