First Phosphate and Groupe Goyette to collaborate on rail transportation from Saguenay to North America

First Phosphate Corp. (CSE:PHOS) has entered into a significant memorandum of understanding with Groupe Goyette, facilitating logistical operations at the Hébertville-Station intermodal facility.

First Phosphate and GG will collaborate to assess rail line options for transporting the company's products between Saguenay, Quebec, and the wider North American market via the Hébertville-Station intermodal facility, focusing on enhancing truck-to-rail capabilities and accommodating rapid product flow, particularly to the automotive industry hub in the Windsor-Detroit corridor.

They will also determine expansion requirements for the facility to facilitate this flow and integrate project-based logistics, prioritizing fleet electrification and reducing carbon footprint.

Additionally, the two entities will jointly promote the economic, social, and job creation benefits of their partnership to governmental bodies in Quebec, Canada, and the United States.

"This agreement is important to our future customers because it would create a rapid truck-to-rail on and off ramp between our mining and industrial facilities in Saguenay and the auto-industry heartland of North America," said First Phosphate CEO John Passalacqua in a statement.

"Our clients in the battery technology industry for electric vehicles and energy storage will be demanding and will require reliable, just-in-time transportation assurances."

In other news, First Phosphate appointed Armand MacKenzie as vice-president, government relations.

MacKenzie, with a background in traditional Innu territory and 15 years of legal practice, brings extensive experience in land rights, indigenous affairs, and mining executive roles.
