Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL) reported a recovery in De Beers' rough diamond sales for the second cycle of 2024, with sales increasing to $430 million, up 15% from the first cycle's $374 million, though still down 13% year-over-year from $497 million.
Chief executive Al Cook said US customers continued to restock "conservatively".
He also noted growing consumer interest in India, contrasted with sluggish demand in China, and said he anticipated a gradual recovery in rough diamond demand throughout the year.
Anglo American owns 85% of De Beers, the world's largest diamond miner and retailer.
