Trust Stamp spotlights its Stable IT2 technology in new white paper

T Stamp Inc (NASDAQ:IDAI, EURONEXT:AIID), doing business as Trust Stamp, has released a white paper discussing its Stable IT2 technology and its potential use cases, specifically using Stable IT2 in Fast Identity Online (FIDO) applications.

The company said that Stable IT2 is a biometric cryptosystem designed to secure cryptographic keys and other important information using a renewable cryptographic secret, which is generated using a facial image.

By integrating Trust Stamp’s Stable IT2, the company said users can align with FIDO specifications and elevate their identity security and authentication.

Trust Stamp chief science officer Dr. Norman Poh explained that Stable IT2 revolutionized data security in biometric systems because it eliminates the need to store biometric data.

“With Stable IT2, a face is authenticated, not by comparing it to a stored biometric, but instead, the face is authenticated because only the right face can regenerate the cryptographic key,” he said. “Therefore, you can secure digital assets by safeguarding the key, which can only be regenerated using the right face.”

Dr. Poh said that while passkeys are convenient, their reliance on physical device storage creates user friction and prevents them from being widely adopted. Syncing the keys via a cloud service poses security risks, he added.

“Stable IT2 addresses this conundrum by incorporating biometrically-derived keys, as a mechanism to protect passkeys,” Dr. Poh said.

“This not only enhances the security and integrity even in compromised scenarios but also greatly enhances the portability of keys across devices. We are, therefore, one step closer to creating a biometric-bound digital identity token.”

Trust Stamp is a global provider of AI-powered identity services for use in multiple sectors, including banking and finance, regulatory compliance, government, real estate, communications, and humanitarian services.
