Chariot completes feasibility study for Mauritiana green hydrogen project

Chariot Ltd (AIM:CHAR, OTC:OIGLF) has completed a feasibility study for its proposed large-scale green hydrogen project in Mauritania.

Dubbed Project Nour, the joint-venture between subsidiary Chariot Green Hydrogen and part TotalEnergies-owned TE H2 would be among the world’s largest, with 10 gigawatts of capacity.

Chariot said the latest feasibility study further supported the viability of the project, which would initially produce 150 kilotonnes of green hydrogen annually.

“This feasibility study further corroborates how important this project stands to be within the context of the future green hydrogen market,” Chariot Green Hydrogen boss Laurent Coche commented.

“Nour's size and scale has the potential to have a material impact both as a domestic and export producer and we are proud to have set the development along this path.”

Mauritania's Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines is also supporting the project, with Coche adding the likes of offtake and export options were currently being explored.

“We are fully committed to the development of this sector,” minister Nani Chrougha, of the Mauritanian Ministry of Petroleum, said.

“Our aim is to be the largest producer and exporter of hydrogen on the African continent and we believe that Project Nour could support this objective.”
