Copper Lake Resources Ltd (TSX-V:CPL, OTC:WTCZF) has initiated diamond drilling operations on its Marshall polymetallic property in northwestern Ontario.
The current drilling campaign will focus on two primary target areas, the company said in a statement.
The first target is a prominent magneto-telluric (MT) conductor located beneath high-grade zinc-copper silver stringer mineralization, known as the Deep EM target.
The second target is an EM conductor situated two kilometres east of the Billiton deposit.
MT conductors, identified through the magneto-telluric method, indicate the presence of metallic sulphide deposits to depths of up to 1,000 meters, surpassing historical geophysical surveys' depth limitations at Marshall Lake.
An MT survey in July 2021 was interpreted and modeled by Copper Lake. The survey targeted the Deep EM area, which had previously yielded high-grade intercepts. The company hopes to delineate extensions to the identified mineralization through the MT survey.
Three strong MT conductors, proximal to the Deep EM target and Billiton deposit, were delineated through 3D modeling. These conductors are considered highly prospective for massive sulphide deposits, with none having been tested by drilling previously.
MT Conductor 1, the highest priority target, closely associates with high-grade stringer mineralization. Clearing and cribbing of the site for drilling are currently underway, with drilling expected to commence within the next three to four days.
Additionally, an electromagnetic conductor known as the Build-Up Conductor, located east of the Billiton deposit, has been fully defined through recent large-loop electromagnetic surveys. A single drill hole tested this conductor and intersected significant alteration and mineralization, Copper Lake said.
Sampling of the altered sections of the core will commence shortly, with assay results to follow.
Copper Lake is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company focused on projects in Ontario. It holds an 81.54% interest in the Marshall Lake high-grade VMS project and a 69.79% joint venture interest in the Norton Lake nickel, copper, cobalt, and palladium property.
