Hillcrest Energy Technologies Ltd (CSE:HEAT, OTCQB:HLRTF) told investors its Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology platform is now available to be deployed in grid-connected power applications.
The company said its solution eliminates switching losses and enables higher switching frequencies without the drawbacks associated with conventional power inverters, which it believes could bring the opportunity for groundbreaking advancements in grid-connected inverter applications.
It has deployed its technology into a 350kVA electric vehicle (EV) traction inverter and power module.
“Our technology is now available for grid-connected applications along with our existing e-mobility capabilities, providing Hillcrest with a very large commercial pool of opportunities,” Hillcrest CEO Don Currie said in a statement.
“We are receiving incredible interest and have already engaged in early-stage discussions with several groups for applications ranging from utility-scale renewable energy generation and battery storage to EV charging.”
The company said with a demonstrated inverter efficiency of 99.6%, in a grid-tier application its ZVS technology would enhance power production and storage capabilities and contribute to a reduction in the levelized cost of energy.
It said that the implementation of its technology into solar power generation, for example, could yield efficiency improvements of 2% or more. A 250MW solar farm could deliver 5WM more power to the grid and generate millions of dollars in additional revenue over the lifetime of the solar farm, it said.
Hillcrest also believes its ZVS technology could lower other system costs, for example, by reducing the size and weight of line filters and DC-link capacitors.
"Our ZVS technology platform represents a transformative leap in power inverter capabilities, offering strategic advantages in system efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability,” CEO Currie said.
