Medicus Pharma (TSX-V:MDCX) said it has appointed experienced pharmaceutical leader Erica Monaco as chief operating officer and has hired an investment bank and financial communications firm to advise on potential financings and US listing opportunities.
The company highlighted that Monaco has spent the last decade in the dermatology sector and has "an extensive track record of building start-up operations, accelerating change, and driving process improvement".
Her most recent role was as CEO of Nasdaq-listed Biofrontera Inc, where she joined as “employee #2”, grew a pre-commercial organization from FDA approval through market introduction and commercial launch, posting a revenue growth at a CAGR over 80% and completing an accretive M&A transaction, Medicus said.
Biofrontera completed an IPO on NASDAQ in 2021 and raised follow-on equity investment rounds in excess of $60 million.
Executive chairman and CEO Dr Raza Bokhari said: “Erica brings immense business leadership experience in non-melanoma skin diseases, strengthening our efforts to deliver a first-in-class, novel, non-invasive alternative to treat basal cell carcinoma of the skin, using dissolvable microneedle arrays loaded with the chemotherapeutic agent Doxorubicin.”
Medicus also announced that it has engaged a full-service investment bank in the US to advise on potential financings and US listing opportunities and has engaged a financial communications firm to increase market and brand awareness of the company and to broaden its reach within the investment community.
