Mako Gold extends Tchaga North target to 250 metres with high-grade rock chip samples

Mako Gold Ltd (ASX:MKG) says a set of high-grade rock chip samples from the new Double Zone at Tchaga North prospect of the Napié Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire indicates a target with 250 metres of strike length.

New rock chip samples included results of 22.46 g/t, 16.78 g/t, 12.85 g/t and 4.86 g/t gold, complementing and confirming previous samples of 44.73 g/t and 6.29 g/t gold.

The new Double Zone sits on the western greenstone-granite contact at Napié, an area Mako considers to be a high-priority drill target.

Compelling drill target

“The newly named 'Double Zone' which is aptly named for the two parallel artisanal mining sites with associated east-west quartz veining, has expanded significantly,” Mako Gold managing director Peter Ledwidge said.

“The consistent high-grade rock chip results at Double Zone along with its increasing strike length and width potential make this a compelling high-priority drill target.

“Our team’s mapping and rock chip sampling continues to delineate a growing zone that now reaches 250 metres strike length when one includes the single reverse circulation hole that returned 1 metre at 45 g/t gold.

“Ongoing work confirms the discovery of a high-grade east-west gold system at Tchaga North in an orientation which is yet to be drilled.”

Mako said a result of 12.85 g/t gold taken from host rock consisting of volcanic andesitic tuff indicated the gold mineralisation wasn’t confined strictly to quartz veins.

Boots on the ground

Managing director Ledwidge will join the company’s general manager of exploration this week to spend five weeks on-site, for an on-the-ground evaluation of the new high-grade targets and for due diligence on the potential Goldridge transaction.

In addition, although there have been regular communications with the Ministry of Mines and the reapplication process is on track and expected to be granted shortly, Mako's managing director will also meet with the Director of Mines and the Minister of Mines to follow up on the granting of the Napié permit.

Once mapping, rock chip sampling and Mako’s management visit are complete, the company will design new high-grade targets for its next drilling program.
