Horizon Minerals planning further exploration work at Bridgetown-Greenbushes and Yarmany East

Horizon Minerals Ltd (ASX:HRZ) has begun reconnaissance and early-stage work to increase understanding of its newly acquired lithium projects near Bridgetown and Coolgardie in Western Australia.

Horizon CEO Grant Haywood said: “Although very early days at both our Yarmany East and Greenbushes Lithium projects, it is pleasing to have begun reconnaissance and early-stage work to increase our understanding in these areas in preparation for future drill test programs, particularly at Yarmany East where we have previously identified approximately 14 kilometres of strike of unexplored lithium anomalies. In parallel, the company is also considering potential strategic options for our emerging lithium assets.”

Bridgetown-Greenbushes

A small first pass rock chip and soil sampling has been undertaken at the Bridgetown-Greenbushes lithium project, 250 kilometres south of Perth.

No anomalous lithium was identified in the rock chip samples taken, but some encouragement was noted on tenement E70/5981 with elevated levels of beryllium, rubidium and tin recorded.

Roadside verge soil sampling was also conducted on tenements around 10-kilometres south-east of the Greenbushes mine. A total of 33 samples were taken overall with several areas returning anomalous lithium up to 91.9ppm lithium against a background of about 20-40ppm lithium.

A simple field inspection was also completed on some of the new tenement applications to evaluate their potential and assist in the granting process. Some weathered pegmatite outcrops on, or adjacent to, Horizon’s tenure were noted, providing visual confirmation of the prospectivity.

Yarmany East

The 234 drill pulps from the 2021-2022 reverse circulation drill program at Yarmany East that were originally assayed for gold only have since been re-submitted for multi-element analysis, including lithium and pathfinder elements.

The pulps were selected where drilling had passed through significant widths (20-30 metres) of massive-pallid white clays. Horizon said that while no pegmatite had been logged, fresher and saprolitic light coloured clay and chips were noted as likely being of a sedimentary and/or granitic origin. The majority of the drilling was located outside the anomalous auger and soil areas.

The re-assayed results, received mid-February, did not positively confirm spodumene mineralisation but no clear assays supported significant primary lithium mineralisation in the drill holes analysed.

What’s next?

Horizon has further infill soil and rock chip sampling planned at the Bridgetown tenure once access approvals have been received.

The company is also planning an infill and extension auger program and, subject to the results, will undertake further drilling activities.

Horizon is also in discussions with various parties undertaking due diligence that have expressed interest in acquiring or earning in to the lithium rights at Yarmany East.
