Copper Lake Resources Ltd (TSX-V:CPL, OTC:WTCZF) revealed plans for its winter 2024 drilling program at its Marshall Lake VMS property in Ontario.
The company said that it is zeroing in on the Build-up Conductor, an extension of the MT Conductor that has shown promising trends in geophysical images.
Copper Lake has engaged Forage Geo-Nord to spearhead the drilling efforts for this program, primarily focusing on two main targets: the MT and Build-up conductors.
The Build-up Conductor, identified through large-loop electromagnetic surveys, is positioned east of the MT Conductors and Billiton deposit. Hosted in younger rocks, Copper Lake sees the Build-up Conductor as an intriguing target with significant geological potential.
Additional surveying is scheduled to define the conductor's size, strength, and orientation further, aiming to enhance understanding and guide subsequent exploration efforts.
The firm decided to concentrate on the Build-up Conductor after logistical hurdles that emerged due to unanticipated weather conditions in the area.
With the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry decommissioning bridges crucial for accessing the drill site from the south, Copper Lake intended to pivot its access route to the north via Ogoki Road.
However, the uncharacteristically warm winter has prevented the planned access due to the absence of suitable freeze-up conditions, rendering the initially planned heavy drill rig inaccessible via helicopter.
In response, the company has recalibrated its strategy, concentrating efforts on the Build-up Conductor, which promises targets at shallower depths, less than 500 meters, allowing for the utilization of a smaller, helicopter-mobilizable drill rig.
The MT survey, conducted by SJ Geophysics Ltd., indicates the presence of metallic sulphide deposits at depths up to 1,000 meters, surpassing historical surveys' capabilities.
Recent interpretations of MT data delineated strong conductors, suggestive of potential nearby massive sulphide deposits, particularly in close proximity to the Deep EM target and Billiton deposit.
