abrdn on the back foot as cost-cutting starts

Fund manager and wealth platform abrdn will be desperate to announce something that gets its share price moving north again when it updates tomorrow.

After a difficult 2023, the shares are down another 10% year-to-date.

In a late January pre-close statement, abrdn indicated assets under management AUMs would be around £366.7bn at the year-end after second half outflows of £12.5bn.

Underlying profits should be in line with consensus at £245m.

Abrdn recently announced 500 job cuts as part of a £150m cost reduction programme.

UBS said that at these valuation levels, the market is pricing in a return to net inflows for abrdn in early 2025 but it doesn’t expect a return to inflows until 2027.
