Abitibi Metals Corp (CSE:AMQ, OTC:AMQFF) reported good progress earlier this week on its winter drill program at the B26 polymetallic deposit in Quebec.
The company is aiming to complete a minimum of 10,000 meters by the end of March as part of a fully funded 30,000-meter 2024 field season.
Jonathon Deluce, CEO of Abitibi Metals, expressed optimism about the ongoing drilling, noting positive visual results that support the company's objective of testing the open-pit potential at the B26 deposit.
The aim is to increase near-surface tonnage over a 1.2-kilometer strike length, Deluce noted.
"We are currently reviewing the possibility of adding a third drill in order to continue the momentum of these positive developments," the CEO said.
The drill program, which has already completed fourteen holes totaling 4,275 meters, focuses on three main targets along the strike, including the B26 Main Deposit, Satellite West, and Eastern Extension.
Abitibi Metals entered an option agreement in November 2023 with SOQUEM Inc, a subsidiary of Investissement Québec, to earn 80% ownership over seven years on the B26 deposit.
Meanwhile, drilling at Satellite West targets the geometric continuity of a potential satellite zone located 500 meters to the west of the main deposit.
The Eastern Extension target, scheduled to commence drilling at the end of February, aims to expand the main deposit to the east, where significant copper-gold intercepts have been recorded in historical drilling.
Abitibi Metals is focused on unlocking the full potential of B26.
