SSV Capital PLC founder and chief executive Ankur Ghosh recently discussed significant advancements in the company's operations, focusing on the SmartPay launch and developments in the prop-tech and fintech sectors.
In an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion last week, Ghosh highlighted the successful soft launch of SSV SmartPay at the House of Commons, emphasising the onboarding of merchants and customer adoption.
Stephen Gunnion: Can you give us an update on the developments at SSV Capital since your last visit?
Ankur Ghosh: It's been a period of both challenges and progress. We've successfully launched SSV SmartPay, seeing good traction with merchants and customers alike. Our goal is to expand to 5,000-10,000 merchants and achieve 1-2 million transactions. Additionally, we're enhancing the platform with digital wallet and cross-border payment technologies, aiming for a full launch in July 2024.
Stephen Gunnion: Who is the target audience for SSV SmartPay?
Ankur Ghosh: Our target is broad, encompassing anyone who can benefit from our open banking platform. We aim to bridge the significant market gap between traditional transaction volumes and the potential of open banking, with a particular focus on reducing costs for merchants and improving payment efficiencies.
Stephen Gunnion: Tell us more about the launch and objectives of your PropTech platform.
Ankur Ghosh: SSV Real Estate is focusing on commercial properties, investing in sustainability and IoT integration to decarbonise buildings. Our approach is global, with initiatives in the UK, Netherlands, Luxembourg, India, Australia, and America, aiming to make commercial properties sustainable and impactful for future generations.
Stephen Gunnion: What's the latest on the Luxembourg fund?
Ankur Ghosh: We're launching a €50 million fund focused on FinTech and commercial real estate investments. There's significant interest from LPs and family offices worldwide, showing enthusiasm for our ecosystem that combines financial technology and property investment for sustainable growth.
Stephen Gunnion: Could you share insights from your recent business trips and the LPX event in Singapore?
Ankur Ghosh: The LPX event in Singapore was a milestone, where we were honoured with a Sustainability Award. It provided a platform to discuss our sustainable and impactful investment approaches with family offices and institutional investors from across Asia, leading to significant interest and invitations to present our vision globally.
Stephen Gunnion: What are SSV Capital's milestones for the next six months?
Ankur Ghosh: Our focus is on execution. We aim to further develop SSV SmartPay, expand our PropTech initiatives, and grow our assets under management. With ongoing discussions for additional funds in Singapore and other locations, we're not just selling a vision but making it a reality.
