Royal Mail and Paypoint join forces on parcel pick-up services

Royal Mail and Paypoint (LSE:PAY) have formed a partnership to allow parcels to be picked up, sent and dropped off across the UK.

By the summer, Royal Mail customers will be able to use 5,000 stores that are part of Paypoint (LSE:PAY)’s Collect+ network and also use its services at the shops involved.

Paypoint claims Collect+ is the largest out-of-home (OOH) parcel pick-up, drop off and send service in the UK and Royal Mail said the deal would allow it to expand its OOH reach and local network by offering customers more pick-up and drop-off options.

Nick Wiles, PayPoint’s chief executive, said: “As consumer channel shift continues to move towards Out of Home (OOH), our fantastic retailer partners will now have an even greater opportunity to serve the needs of their customers in communities across the UK.”

“We remain fully committed to investing further in the in-store consumer experience, through technology and operational support,” he added.

Martin Seidenberg, CEO of Royal Mail parent International Distributions Services PLC (LSE:IDS), added: “This partnership is an important part of Royal Mail’s strategy to make our services even more convenient for customers and to expand our out-of-home offering to provide additional locations for our customers to use our services.”

Shares in IDS rose 0.6% to 260p.
