Aptamer Group spikes 14% on Alzheimer's trial news

Shares in Aptamer Group PLC (AIM:APTA) jumped 14% following the advancement to the second phase of its collaboration with Neuro-Bio, an Oxfordshire-based biotech firm focusing on neurodegenerative diseases.

This phase aims to develop additional Optimer binders for a lateral flow test designed for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease.

The collaboration seeks to enhance early diagnosis capabilities by targeting a novel biomarker associated with Alzheimer's, using Optimer binders identified in previous research.

These binders, which are oligonucleotide-based alternatives to traditional protein-based antibodies, promise advantages such as easier scalability, longer shelf life, and improved specificity.

In early trading, the stock was changing hands for 0.71p, up 0.086p.
