Ryanair Holdings PLC (LSE:RYA) boss Michael O’Leary said the problems at Boeing mean it will be at least seven news planes shy of the number it expected to receive this summer.
“We still think it's somewhere between seven and 10 but there's a risk it could be worse than that.
“A lot depends on what comes out of the FAA review which is due to complete, I think, in two weeks," the Irish airline boss said in an interview.
Boeing has been hit by ongoing operational woes in 2024, with its fleet of 737 Max 9s grounded after a door blew off during an Air Alaska flight.
The airline is also not allowed to increase MAX production without explicit approval from US regulator the FAA.
Ryanair has an order of 350 MAX jets lodged with Boeing, though no MAX 9s.
Even so, O’Leary said he had “no idea” how many planes it would get though there had no change to the schedule in the last three weekly updates with the plane maker.
