EGR Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:EGR) has received the green light to drill its Detour West property in Ontario.
The company announced the approval of its application for a permit to conduct drilling activities at the property by the Ontario Ministry of Mines, according to a release.
The permit enables EGR to start a drilling program aimed at exploring the potential westward extensions of the Detour-Fenelon gold trend within EGR's Detour West property, which lies adjacent to the Detour Lake mine property owned by Agnico Eagle.
The Detour West gold project spans 40,255 hectares and shares boundaries with Agnico Eagle's property housing the Detour Lake Gold Mine, located approximately 20 kilometers from the mine within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
EGR has secured approval for 123 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes, strategically planned to span approximately 30 kilometers of interpreted structural corridors.
The drilling program will encompass 16 fences consisting of approximately 400-meter-spaced holes, with distances ranging from 1 to 2.5 kilometers between fences.
The drill holes will target five identified areas of interest, according to EGR.
The main goal of the program is to find areas where gold particles carried by glaciers might indicate the presence of gold deposits underground.
Through its program, the company hopes to create a detailed map of the geology in the area where it believes there could be valuable gold deposits extending from the Detour-Fenelon Trend.
Daniel Rodriguez, CEO of EGR, called the permit receipt “the next step in our plan to make a gold discovery” at Detour West.
“With permits in place, we are ready to execute a plan to prove the westward extension of the Detour-Fenelon Trend and the Sunday Lake Deformation Zone."
Rodriguez further emphasized the similarity of geological features and east-west structures between EGR's property and that of its neighbors, highlighting the company's eagerness to validate these interpretations through the upcoming drilling campaign.
