Light Science Technologies outlines its work across industries - ICYMI

Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST) boss Simon Deacon spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to detail developments regarding the company's strategic advancements and order wins across various sectors, from securing a £130,000 order in the sports and entertainment sector to making inroads in pest control.

Deacon provides a glimpse into the company's focus on expanding its customer base, improving operational efficiencies, and its commitment to innovation in sustainable agriculture.

SG: Welcome, Simon. Your company has recently secured a £130,000 order from the sports and entertainment sector. Can you tell us more about this deal and its significance for LSTH?

SD: Absolutely, Stephen. We're thrilled about this initial order through our UK Circuits and Electronics Solutions Limited (UKC) business. It marks a significant step into the sports and entertainment sector, an area we see tremendous potential in. This £130,000 order is just the beginning; we're eyeing it as a gateway to what could potentially become an annual £1 million contract. It aligns perfectly with our strategy to diversify our customer base and secure larger, more lucrative contracts.

SG: How is LSTH working to improve its financial health, specifically regarding gross margins and operational processes?

SD: We're actively investing in capital improvements to enhance our gross margins. This involves streamlining our processes to become more efficient and reduce costs. It's a dual approach: we're not just expanding our market presence and customer base but also ensuring our internal operations are lean and agile. This strategy is crucial for our long-term success and financial stability.

SG: With a £1.4 million order from the pest control sector and a forward order book exceeding £4 million, what does this say about your company's current market position and future outlook?

SD: It's an exciting time for us. The orders from the pest control sector, contributing to a forward order book of over £4 million, showcase our growing influence and the trust clients place in our solutions. It reflects our positive market positioning and underlines our commitment to not just meet but exceed market expectations. We're set on a path of continuous growth, aiming to expand our reach in both new and existing markets.

SG: LSTH is also focusing on the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) sector. Could you expand on your strategies and goals in this area?

SD: Certainly. The CEA sector represents a significant growth opportunity for us, especially in the context of global food security and the rise of vertical farming. We're on a European roadshow to engage with potential clients and establish a global network of distributors. Our product range, which includes advanced sensors, control systems, and software lighting solutions, is designed to support the unique needs of enclosed environment agriculture. Our goal is not just to participate in this sector but to lead it by providing innovative solutions that address some of today's most pressing challenges in food production.
