Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway to post first post-Munger results

Warren Buffett’s illustrious business conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway is preparing for its first annual earnings call following the passing of Buffett’s long-time business partner Charlie Munger.

Munger died in November, one month before his 100th birthday, after serving as Berkshire’s vice chairman for over 40 years.

Points of focus in the annual results due Friday, 23 February will be Berkshire’s massive cash pile, which stood at $157 billion in the third quarter while the group’s share portfolio shrunk from $353 billion at the end of June to $319 billion.

Though cash has been king in the last two years of surging interest rates, attention is shifting to when the Federal Reserve will start implementing cuts.

Investors will be eager to see if Berkshire intends to adopt a more active investing approach in turn.

Berkshire recently disposed of 10 million shares of Apple stock, representing around 1.1% of its holdings in the tech giant.

The group also offloaded massive stakes in PC maker HP and Paramount in recent months, while adding to its stake in Sirius XM Holdings, Occidental and Chevron.

Whether the Oracle of Omaha intends to further increase his position in the oil and gas sector going forward will be of key interest to stakeholders.
