Company news takes over again after last week's burst of macro updates with banks and miners set to dominate mid-week, though Rolls-Royce's update on Thursday might be the most watched.
NatWest kicked off the bank season with bumper profits on Friday.
More of the same is expected from its rivals though with the UK car finance probe and merchant bank profits under pressure, Lloyds and Barclays respectively have their issues.
Dividend disappointment will be on the menu for some of the miners while the thoughts on the outlook for bulk metals prices given China's economic struggles will be the comments to watch.
US markets are closed on Monday.
