Jet2 lifts guidance on resilient winter travel demand

Jet2 PLC (AIM:JET2) has bumped up its full-year profit guidance after reporting stubborn demand over the opening months of the year.

Pre-tax profit should come in between £510 million and £525 million, the airline updated, compared to previous expectations of £480 million to £520 million.

This is as February and March bookings prove demand has stayed as strong as in previous months, according to the airline, with February’s extra day and an earlier Easter also proving beneficial.

"We are pleased with how the 2024 financial year is ending and are encouraged by early bookings for Summer 2024,” chief executive Steve Heapy commented.

Forward winter passenger bookings are currently up 17%, with on-sale seat capacity having been increased by 20.5%.

Average prices have also remained robust, with an increased mix of higher-margin holiday package passengers having been seen on a resurgence in demand for city breaks.

“Whilst recognising that there are many demands on consumer discretionary incomes, we believe that our customers cherish their time away from our rainy island and want to be properly looked after throughout their holiday experience,” Heapy added.

“As a customer-focused and much trusted holiday provider, we remain confident they will continue to travel with us.”

Average load factors are up ahead of the airline’s busy summer period, Jet2 added, with further information due in March’s full-year results.

Shares climbed 5.1% to 1,394p.
