Magnetite Mines Ltd (ASX:MGT) CEO Tim Dobson joins Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson in the Australian studio to discuss a major milestone relating to Port Pirie and its standing as a green iron production hub. The company has signed an MoU with Port Pirie Council in South Australia, which will see MGT strategically engage State and Federal governments on the development potential for green iron production in Port Pirie. The MoU includes undertaking preliminary planning for future green iron production in PortPirie, including community and First Nations engagement. Dobson explains how the MoU can help with the SA Government’s Green Iron & Steel Strategy and what a future green iron industry looks like. In the company’s announcement, Dobson said, “We see a once-in-a-generation, economy-changing opportunity for South Australia to take a leading role in global steel sector decarbonisation thanks to its expansive magnetite resources, green hydrogen and renewable energy.”
