Volta Metals Ltd (CSE:VLTA) has unveiled encouraging assay results from the first drill program at its Falcon West lithium property in northwestern Ontario, signaling significant progress in its exploration activities.
The 11-drill hole program intersected near-surface spodumene-albite pegmatite hosted lithium, cesium, and tantalum mineralization, with results open for further expansion.
Key highlights from the assay included drill hole FW23-07, which showcased a lithium oxide (Li2O) content of 1.50%, alongside cesium (Cs) at 79.8 ppm and tantalum (Ta) at 39.1 ppm. Another notable result was from drill hole FW23-05, reporting 1.24% Li2O, 155.5 ppm Cs, and 55.4 ppm Ta over a 15.6-meter length. These findings point to the high-grade potential of lithium and associated rare metals within the property.
Dr Fred Breaks, technical advisor to Volta, noted the assay results indicate a transition into more evolved, complex-type pegmatite mineralization, hinting at the presence of undiscovered pegmatites with considerable potential westward.
This insight builds on the five spodumene-bearing pegmatites discovered during Volta's 2023 exploration across the property, all of which demonstrated mineralization in the recent drilling effort.
Kerem Usenmez, CEO of Volta Metals, said: "These high-grade lithium results, along with strongly anomalous cesium and tantalum, suggest the presence of a large LCT (lithium-cesium-tantalum) mineralized system within the Falcon West project."
The company is finalizing its 2024 exploration program, planning diamond drilling, mechanized trenching, and further geochemical sampling to explore this potential.
To validate the accuracy and precision of the assay results, Volta enforced a strict QA/QC protocol, using certified OREAS lithium standards, blanks, and duplicates. Activation Laboratories Ltd. in Thunder Bay, Ontario, conducted the sample analysis using the Peroxide Fusion ICP-OES method.
In the same announcement, Volta Metals said it has expanded its reach by listing its common shares on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol "D0W," facilitating international investor access to the company's growing lithium exploration venture.
