NatWest has poached UBS’s sustainability head to be the new chief executive of its scandal-hit private bank Coutts.
Emma Crystal will take over NatWest’s wealth management division, which includes Coutts, later this summer.
Crystal, who will sit on NatWest’s executive management committee, replaces Peter Flavel who resigned in the wake of the Nigel Farage (pictured) debanking scandal.
Natwest chief executive Alison Rose also resigned over the affair after admitting to disclosing details of his account to a journalist.
Crystal worked for Deutsche Bank before moving to Credit Suisse and then UBS following the shotgun takeover of its Swiss rival.
Lord Remnant, chairman of Coutts, said Crystal's "knowledge and understanding of clients combined with her commercial experience make her the ideal person to help Coutts write the next chapter in our history.”
NatWest is still 36% owned by the UK taxpayer flowing its rescue during the 2008 financial crash with plans for this stake to be sold in June through a retail offering.
