Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) PLC (AIM:EOG) chief executive officer William Holland sat down with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the energy group's significant milestones for the offshore gas project in Ireland.
Holland discusses the licence extension for the Inishkea West prospect, detailing the advancements in seismic reprocessing and their implications for risk reduction and project potential.
He also sheds light on Europa Oil & Gas's future strategies for partnerships and development, underlining the project's relevance in the European gas market and its promising risk-reward profile.
Stephen Gunnion (SG): William, congratulations on the recent licence extension for your offshore Ireland gas project. Can you share what this means for Europa Oil & Gas?
William Holland (WH): Thank you, Stephen. This licence extension is a pivotal moment for us, demonstrating our technical and financial readiness to advance the Inishkea West prospect. It's a vote of confidence in our project's potential and our team's capability to deliver.
SG: The seismic reprocessing efforts seem to have played a significant role. Could you delve into their impact?
WH: Indeed, they have. By enhancing the seismic imaging from 10 to 30 Hertz, we've significantly reduced the risks associated with the project. This step has improved our understanding of the Inishkea West prospect's potential without materially altering its significance, which is crucial for our planning and development phases.
SG: How does the Inishkea West prospect align with Ireland's energy security and environmental goals?
WH: The prospect holds the promise of reducing Ireland's reliance on imported gas by providing 1.5 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas. This not only enhances our energy security but also aligns with environmental goals, as domestic gas production has far lower emissions compared to imported LNG.
SG: With the project advancing, what are the next steps for Europa Oil & Gas in terms of partnerships and development?
WH: We're looking to re-engage with potential partners to further develop this opportunity. The project's proximity to existing infrastructure, coupled with the European gas market's demand, presents a quick path to cash flow and a strong risk-reward profile that is highly attractive to investors and partners alike.
