Gold Terra Resource Corp (TSX-V:YGT, OTCQX:YGTFF) has started drilling a second deep hole, further delineating high-grade gold mineralization within the Campbell Shear (CS) beneath the Con Mine underground workings on the Con Mine Option (CMO) Property.
The company highlighted the successful confirmation of gold mineralization 200 meters below existing underground workings with the first deep drill hole.
This initial hole extended the CS, revealing a typical gold intersection of 12.73 grams per ton (g/t) gold (Au) over 1.7 meters.
The CMO property is currently under option from subsidiaries of Newmont.
Gold Terra noted that during the process of completing a lateral wedge from the first hole, aimed at targeting the CS approximately 75 meters north of the initial intersection, an operational error occurred while setting up a second wedge, resulting in the abandonment of the hole.
In response, the firm has decided to initiate a second deeper hole, situated approximately 600 meters below the Robertson shaft 1,900 meters below surface to explore a broader area for gold mineralization within the CS.
The new drilling plan is expected to intersect the CS at a greater depth, facilitating the addition of multiple wedges and intersections of the target zone.
"After successfully confirming the extension of the high-grade Campbell Shear zone 200 meters vertically below the Robertson shaft with hole GTCM23-055, we are moving the drill to a new location for a second deep hole,” Gerald Panneton, CEO of Gold Terra said in a statement.
"We look forward to completing another successful deep drill hole to intersect both the Con Shear and our primary target, the Campbell Shear."
Gold Terra's Yellowknife Project covers 918 square kilometres of contiguous land near the city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. The company's drilling activities are primarily focused on the Campbell Shear, a historically prolific gold-producing zone, and the CMO property claims, adjacent to the past-producing Con Mine.
