DG Innovate PLC (LSE:DGI), the Wales-based R&D company where three former Tesla executives have joined the board, rose 15% as it announced the "transformative acquisition" of new equipment.
A jet mill and furnace will enhance the development of energy storage products, said the statement.
Adding a motor pilot production line and 3D manufacturing simulation software, meanwhile, will boost the output of its Pareta electric drive system from a handful of devices to around 1,000 a year.
Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen, chief executive, commented: "The new equipment allows us to move complex processes in-house, bringing us closer to developing higher performance motors and more sustainable batteries.”
