Infinity Lithium Corporation Ltd (ASX:INF) has completed a comprehensive locked cycle test (LCT) work program with the aid of Simulus Group Laboratories, confirming "exceptional" lithium recoveries of more than 90%.
The test program used the patent-pending Li-Stream RPK™️ process and a standard ore sample from the flagship San José Lithium Project in Spain, providing valuable data for further optimisation and process development.
INF says the "exceptional" results confirmed the suitability of the Li-Stream RPK™️ process, describing it as the optimal technical option for lithium recovery from run-of-mine (RoM) to end-product.
The company emphasised the strong proof of concept this test program offers, confirming the ability to consistently produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate from lithium-bearing mica sourced at San José, and exceeding the lithium recovery assumptions the update scoping study for the project was based on.
Solid foundation for further engineering
“The program confirmed the results of process simulations and validated key parameters underpinning the technical and commercial feasibility of extraction of lithium from the San José material and provides a solid foundation for further engineering towards a DFS and the pilot plant design,” Infinity Lithium chief technical officer and Infinity GreenTech Technical Advisory Committee chair Jon Starink said.
All LCT test work completed at Simulus Group Laboratories was led and managed by the Infinity GreenTech Technical Advisory Committee.
Infinity will now incorporate these results into a set of detailed engineering studies and optimisations, charting a course for the technology through to demonstration plant design.
The company's shares are up 7.14% to A$0.075 in the first hour of ASX trading.
