Quadrise PLC (AIM:QED) has signed up Cargill, a major supplier of renewable biofuels, and MAC Solutions (MAC2), part of Group Machiels, to produce its MSAR and bioMSAR alternative ship diesel for their forthcoming trials.
Under the collaboration agreement, the trials will be carried out using Quadrise equipment installed at the MAC2 facility in Antwerp.
Cargill will be responsible for the supply of feedstocks, as well as for bunkering operations to supply MSAR and bioMSAR fuel, for the trials.
MAC2 will be responsible for the supply of jetty space, utilities, permits and ad-hoc support services during the trials, whilst Quadrise will be responsible for the provision of MSAR and bioMSAR technology and fuel production equipment and personnel.
Quadrise added this agreement is the first of several required by shipping group MSC for the MSAR and bioMSAR trials, which are scheduled to take place on the MSC Leandra from the next quarter.
Other conditions are a toll manufacturing agreement between Cargill and Quadrise for fuel manufacture and permits for the trials and delivery of the equipment.
Trials will start with proof-of-concept trials for both Quadrise fuels, followed by no objection tests (LONO) for several thousand hours on bioMSAR.
Quadrise anticipates that the bioMSAR LONO trial will take approximately 6-8 months after the POC trials are completed (within around two months), subject to the commercial route of the MSC Leandra during the trials.
If the trials are successful, Cargill will start bunker supply operations to the marine sector through the MAC2 facilities in Port of Antwerp-Bruges permanently.
Jason Miles, Quadrise’s chief executive, said he was "delighted" to be working with Cargill and MAC2.
“We look forward to working with them as we prepare for the trials on the MSC Leandra in Q2 2024 and to a successful longer-term partnership as we progress to commercial supply."
Shares rose 20% to 2.5p.
