GEMC hails successful 2023 drilling program at Råna

Global Energy Metals Corp (TSX-V:GEMC) and Kingsrose Mining's joint venture at the Råna nickel-copper-cobalt project in Norway has uncovered new mineralization zones.

Kingsrose's 2023 core drilling program at the Råna project, covering 4,318 meters in 12 holes, revealed compelling results, GEMC said in a statement.

Notable findings include the Rånbogen prospect, where drilling intercepted mineralization 60 meters up-dip and 40 meters east of the massive sulphide zone encountered in another drill hole.

The Rånbogen mineralization zone has been drill-proven over 200 meters of strike and remains open in all directions within a 1.6-kilometer trend of mineralization and conductive anomalies, GEMC noted.

Exploration activities at the Malmhaugen prospect uncovered a previously undiscovered zone of substantial sulphide mineralization, referred to as 'Malmhaugen.’

The Bruvann prospect showed extended mineralization by 200 meters to the west along strike from the Bruvann mine, with a high-grade nickel sulphide intercept.

GEMC said that Kingsrose plans to continue exploration in 2024, targeting priority conductive geophysical anomalies and conducting electromagnetic geophysical surveys at Råna.

Several areas with outcropping massive sulphide nickel mineralization associated with conductive geophysical anomalies remain to be drilled in 2024.

At the Malmhaugen Prospect, further electromagnetic surveys and drilling are planned to test the large conductive and mineralized anomaly.

Kingsrose aims to map and conduct geophysical surveys in 2Q 2024 to generate a pipeline of drill targets, with additional core drilling scheduled for 3Q 2024.

The Råna nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide exploration project complements GEMC’s growing critical metals project, equity and royalty portfolio, GEMC CEO Mitchell Smith said.

“As demonstrated by our recent royalty acquisition and option on highly prospective uranium assets in Saskatchewan, Canada we are focused on delivering investment exposure to those commodities critical to a net-zero carbon future,” Smith said in a statement.

“We are highly encouraged by the favourable results given exploration outside of the mine site has been minimal to date and that modern models of magmatic sulphide deposit formation and exploration techniques have not been applied. We look forward to working with our partners at Råna especially as high-quality nickel sulphide projects are difficult to come by and nickel is essential in the electrification required to achieve a low carbon future.”
